Meet the Interns
Yike Fu – Membership Intern
Yike Fu is a fourth year undergraduate at the University of Iowa studying International Relations and Finance. She is originally from Hangzhou, China. With her international background, she also volunteers at Iowa UNA. She loves traveling, volunteering, and making friends. She also wants to study abroad in Europe for her graduate school. Her goal is to pursue a career in non-profit organization after graduate school.
Autumn Seo – Membership Intern
Autumn Seo is a fourth year undergraduate at the University of Iowa studying International Studies and International Communications with a Korean Minor. She was raised in a traditional Korean household in America, and that inspired her to pursue a minor in Korean and to major in something that could bridge both the Korean and American culture. In her free time she enjoys working out (especially doing Zumba), spending time with friends, traveling, and cooking.
Madison Hunke – Programming and Operations Intern
Madison Hunke is a third year undergraduate student at the University of Iowa studying International Studies and French/Arabic with a certificate in Human Rights. She enjoys traveling, watching movies, and swimming. Because she is passionate about languages and culture and wants to help promote peace in the international community, she hopes to join the Peace Corps before attending law school and eventually become a Foreign Service Officer or practice Human Rights Law.
Sarah Sitz – Communications Intern
Sarah is a fourth year undergraduate at the University of Iowa double majoring in International Relations: Business and Economics and Chinese with the International Business Certificate and minor in Political Science. She loves traveling and has studied abroad in Hong Kong, had an internship in Taiwan and hopes to one day have an international career. She is currently looking for opportunities to live and work in Taiwan after graduating, followed by deciding whether to attend law school or grad school.
Emma Cole- Programming and Operations Intern
Emma Cole is a fourth year undergraduate at the University of Iowa majoring in International Studies and Arabic with a certificate in Global Health. She enjoys being outdoors, gardening, listening to podcasts, and spending time with family. After graduation she plans to attend graduate school for public health.
Mary Elizabeth Snell – Programming and Operations Intern
Mary Elizabeth is a Junior at the University of Iowa with a major in International Relations and an Entrepreneurial Management Certificate. She enjoys watching Chicago Blackhawks hockey, and is an active member of the club field hockey team at the university. She loves traveling and hopes to pursue a career in international cooperation. In her free time, Mary Elizabeth enjoys spending time with friends, volunteering at blood drives put on by the DeGowin center, exploring new foreign cuisines, and painting.
Emma Kaboli – Programming and Operations Intern
Emma Kaboli is a second year undergraduate at Cornell College studying International Relations and Spanish with a minor in Civic Engagement. Outside of her schoolwork she is an active member of Cornell Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, and Studio Voice Lessons, the Delta Phi Delta Service Chair and Website designer, the Secretary of Cornell’s UNICEF chapter, coordinator of the Lunch Buddies program between Cornell and Mount Vernon Elementary School, and a Spanish tutor. She has volunteered in Guatemala and Honduras and spent time in China, Vietnam, Egypt, Peru, Italy, France, England, Brazil, South Africa, and Ecuador, but she hopes to travel much more! Her goals are to become a Foreign Service Officer after graduate school.
Ha Young Jeong – Programming and Operations Intern
Ha Young Jeong is a third year undergraduate student at the University of Iowa majoring in International Relations. Due to her interest in transnational issues and humanitarian work, she also pursues a minor in Global Health Studies and a certificate in Human Rights along with her major. In addition to CIVIC, Ha Young has been involved in Iowa UNA as an intern and volunteered at numerous non-profit organizations in Iowa City. She also actively pursues research in civil war conflicts at the university.
Margaret Goetz – Communications Intern
Margaret Goetz is a senior at the University of Iowa studying Communications, Health Promotions, and Fundraising and Philanthropy. Upon graduation she hopes to work in Public Relations. She is an active member of her sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta and in her free time enjoys being with friends and family, traveling, and being outdoors.
Karleigh Gunderson – Communications Intern
Karleigh Gunderson is a senior at the University of Iowa studying Journalism and Mass Communication & Studio Art. Karleigh loves to travel and got the opportunity to study abroad last summer in Prague, Czech Republic to explore Central Europe. After graduating, she plans to backpack and see more of the world. In addition to CIVIC, Karleigh is a Chegg Brand Ambassador where she has more opportunities to meet people on campus and stay involved.
Yulin Cheng – Programming and Operations Intern
Yulin Cheng is a senior at the University of Iowa double majoring in Communication Studies and International Business. She was born and raised in Shanghai, China. With her international background and cross-cultural exchange experience, she also serves as the Cultural Exchange Facilitator at Iowa UNA. She always loves learning about and talking to people from all over the world, and recently she has begun to learn German. Yulin is an avid traveler and hopes to combine her passion for travel with her entrepreneurial and cross-cultural skills in her future career. She calls Iowa City her second home.
Path-konn B. Kombate – Community Outreach Intern
Pathkonn Kombate is a third year undergraduate seeking a B.A. in International Relations at the University of Iowa. He’s had rich experiences volunteering and managing a non-profit organization in his native country, Togo, and in Italy where he lived and studied. In addition to CIVIC, Path-konn is the upcoming UNICEF Tap Project Director for the Iowa United Nations Association. He also is multilingual and is fluent in French, Spanish, and Italian and is currently learning Arabic.
